Following the fire excitement, Chris' attention turned to strainer posts. He was a busy bee all day and managed to get 7 strainers and 2 half round posts in. We had decided earlier in the week that we (and by we I mean Chris) would do them manually, as we can't afford to pay a fencer to do it. Chris was actually surprised at how quickly they went in, once he'd worked out a system.

Chris has borrowed a petrol post hole borer, which (in theory) makes the job somewhat easier. However, the auger on the post hole borer only goes to about 600mm deep, and the posts have to go in 1200mm. So we've borrowed a good old fashioned hand borer from our good friend Jeanette to go the extra depth.

I've attached some pics of Chris putting in some posts, complete with his supervisory panel who were there to make sure he was doing a good job.

By the end of the day, Chris had put in 7 strainers and 2 half round posts. Not bad for a day's work! Now there's only 28 strainers and 165 half round posts to go in...
