Chris has borrowed a petrol post hole borer, which (in theory) makes the job somewhat easier. However, the auger on the post hole borer only goes to about 600mm deep, and the posts have to go in 1200mm. So we've borrowed a good old fashioned hand borer from our good friend Jeanette to go the extra depth.
I've attached some pics of Chris putting in some posts, complete with his supervisory panel who were there to make sure he was doing a good job.
Post hole boring the old-fashioned way
Bringing the dirt up out of the hole
The hole nearly ready for the post
Supervisory board
Carrying the post to the hole
Making sure the post is straight and level
Compacting the earth around the post
All done! Solid as
By the end of the day, Chris had put in 7 strainers and 2 half round posts. Not bad for a day's work! Now there's only 28 strainers and 165 half round posts to go in...
LOL, good job Chris - those 28 strainers and 165 half rounds will go in in no time .... really ... ;)
