Thunderbirds are GO!

With the cottage building consent on the cusp of being issued, the builders have started. The sand pad is down in preparation for the boxing for the concrete pad. As you can see we've had a little rain after months and months of nothing. Here's hoping the typical Waikato winter weather holds off until after the concrete pad goes down.

You can see in the background the posts that Chris has been busy putting in. There's been a wee technical hitch with the post hole borer (some muppet at the council broke it) so post hole installation has been put on hold for now until the borer is fixed.

In other news, Chris has been on a mini-spending spree and ordered the water troughs, the water pumps and accepted a quote for the shed pad and concrete floor. I applied for building consent for the shed on Friday and was pleasantly surprised when the fee came in less that I'd budgeted for. So far that hasn't been happening very often! Even though we'd ordered the shed a while ago, we've had to wait a couple of weeks for the council to process the cottage building consent before we could apply for the shed. If we'd put it in straight away, before the cottage consent went in it would have required another resource consent for building an accessory building prior to a dwelling or some such thing, with an associated fee of course. The helpful lady at the council said that she'd match the shed building consent up with the cottage one so hopefully it won't take too long to come through and we can get the floor down. As for the rest of the shed... well... anyone want a project?
